King’s 2019-2020 United Way campaign culminated in a cheque presentation to United Way Elgin Middlesex on February 20, 2020.

Members of the United Way Committee Tiffany Chisholm, Kim Malcolm, Kathy Mitchell and John Milner presented a cheque for $23,744.94 at a special ceremony. Aness Symons, Melissa Parker and Allyson Fuller gratefully accepted the cheque for United Way Elgin Middlesex.

The total giving from King’s for the last 5 years comes to $127,752.52. The total giving since United Way campaigns began at King’s in 2011 is $501,321.26.

 “Our relationship with King’s runs strong and deep,” says Kelly Ziegner ’95, President & CEO, United Way Elgin Middlesex. “Together we tackle #UNIGNORABLE issues in our community through research, advocacy, voluntarism and this incredible investment.”

The donation to the United Way included payroll deductions, the Strawberry Social held in July, the Silent Auction in December and KINGO and a 50/50 draw held at the staff Christmas party.

King’s United Way campaign supports important poverty reduction work locally, including a broad range of programs and services close to home.

Beyond the fundraising campaign, the two organizations have deep ties to poverty advocacy and research. King’s Professor, Dr. Jeff Preston is Vice Chair of London for All, our city’s poverty reduction strategy lead by United Way. United Way also works closely with London Poverty Research Centre, located at King’s, on a number of projects including Living Wage.
