Distinguished University Professor Designation
at King’s University College
Nominations for the King’s Distinguished University Professor Designation are closed for 2023; the deadline for 2024 will be announced when it is set.
Designation: King’s University College “Distinguished University Professor” designation is to be granted to faculty members who have gained international recognition for extraordinary impact in their academic discipline(s). The designation represents the highest research-related honour bestowed by King’s University College. The designation will be strictly honorific and so it does not entitle to recipient to any additional stipend, compensation, or benefits.
Selection: That the “Distinguished University Professor” designation is granted by the President of King’s to qualified faculty members recommended by a Distinguished University Professor Selection Committee. The Selection Committee, which is working under the auspices of the Research Activity Committee and the Office of the Academic Dean, will make its recommendation based on nominations submitted to it through an open nomination process.
Criteria for Nomination: That the criteria for nomination and selection include that the nominees be internationally recognized for extraordinary impact in their academic discipline(s) as demonstrated by their Curriculum Vitae and written testimony from at least two referees external to King’s.
Retirement: The “Distinguished University Professor” designation be automatically converted to “Distinguished Emeritus/Emerita Professor” upon the candidate qualifying for the “Emeritus/Emerita” designation through existing channels for that designation.
Letters of nomination should be submitted to the committee together with the nominee’s current curriculum vitae and written testimony from at least two referees external to King’s.
