Giving Psychology Away: Implications, Solutions, Applications (GPA ISA) is a series that includes keynote addresses, an Applied Psychology panel of professionals in nonacademic careers, a panel of successful King’s graduates, presentations of student capstone projects from a variety of applied courses, a student career fair and networking opportunities.

All sessions are free and open to everyone. Refreshments are provided at all sessions. Register today!

8:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. Community Panel: Students in Dr. Penner's Collaborative Research in Applications of Psychological Science class (PSY 4694) present their research-based application projects to a community panel

10:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m. Community Panel Reception – Breakfast

1 1:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Keynote I – Dr. Loretta Norton (BrainsCAN Clinical Research Liaison, Western University)

12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m. Capstone Poster Session I (PSY 3840, 3740, 3330, 2610)

1:30 p.m.–3:00 p.m. Applied Psychology Panel and Networking Social: Professionals with degrees in psychology, from a range of non-academic positions, will discuss their careers and answer student questions, followed by a networking social. Panelists include:

11:30 a.m–1:00 p.m. Digital Placement Stories and Practicum Supervisors Reception: Students in Dr. Chovaz’s Practicum course (PSY 4692) will describe their clinical placement experience, followed by a reception with Practicum Community Supervisors

1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. Capstone Poster Session III (PSY 3840, 3740, 3725, 3330, 2610)

2:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m. Alumni Panel and Networking Social: King’s Psychology Alumni speak about their experiences after graduating ("Life After King's")

3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. Capstone Poster Session IV (PSY 3725)

The following applied capstone course projects will be presented at the poster sessions (April 3, 5, 9):

  • Students in Dr. Ellis’ Survey Design and Construction course (PSY3840) will present their surveys designed for community partners
  • Students in Dr. Morrison’s Social Psychology of Attitudes course (PSY3740) will present their attitude change projects
  • Students in Dr. Jackson’s Psychology of Prejudice course (PSY3725) will present their prejudice-reduction projects
  • Students in Dr. Morrison’s Health Psychology course (PSY3330) will present their health promotion projects
  • Students in Dr. Gorman’s Applications of Psychology course (PSY2990) will present their informational campaigns about real-world social issues
  • Students in Dr. Hutchinson’s Educational Psychology course (PSY2610) will present their active learning lesson plans
