22 King’s students were selected as semi-finalists for The Great Canadian Sales Competition, Canada’s biggest student competition. This is quite an accomplishment, given that only the top 25% of the 3,500 video submissions from campuses across Canada were selected. Semi-finalists were picked based on the passion, enthusiasm, and professionalism they displayed during their sales pitch. This year, King's has 22 semi-finalists, Western has 18 and Ivey has eight.

Last year, four King’s students made it to the semi-finals. Jamal Hijazi, a fourth-year King’s MOS student, went all the way to the final round of the competition, beating out 2,500 other entrants to finish in the top five. He will return to the semi-finals this year.

To maintain the momentum King’s students have moving in to the semi-final round, MOS student, Julia Kulczyski has organized a series of networking and practice workshops in preparation for the semi-finals. Kulczski has invited not only the 22 King’s semi-finalists, but also the 18 semi-finalists from Western’s main campus and 8 semi-finalists from Ivey to take part in the sales training workshops.

“I’m thrilled to see so many King’s students moving on to the semi-final round,” says Dr. Jennifer Jeffrey, Assistant Professor of Marketing in the MOS program. “I’ve been really impressed with the level of interest and engagement of the students this year, and the amount of time and effort many of them put into their competition submissions. It’s very rewarding to see their hard work pay off in such a positive way. Faculty are always trying to increase the experiential learning opportunities for our students, and encouraging them to participate in student competitions is a fun and effective way to achieve that goal. Good luck to all of our competitors!”
