King’s University College is saddened to announce the passing on Sunday, December 16 of The Most Rev. Eugène P. LaRocque, former professor and Principal from 1965-1968.

Funeral Notice: The Most Rev. Eugène P. LaRocque

Bishop LaRocque was born on March 27, 1927 in Windsor, a background he remained proud of and attached to.  He entered St. Peter’s Seminary in 1945 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 7, 1952.  He served as associate pastor of St. Theresa in Windsor, pastor of St. Joseph’s in River Canard and Ste. Anne’s in Tecumseh.  He also served as a professor at, and the Principal of, King's University College.  On September 3, 1974, he was consecrated a bishop and served as the sixth Bishop for the Diocese of Alexandria, as it was then known, until his retirement on April 27, 2002.

Visitation

Visitation will be at Ste. Anne’s, Tecumseh, on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 2 – 5 pm, and from 7 – 9 pm; and again on Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 1 pm until shortly before the Funeral Mass at 2 pm.  Vigil prayers will be Tuesday at 8 pm.

Funeral Mass

Bishop Fabbro will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 2 pm, at Ste. Anne’s, Tecumseh.
