Please follow the steps below to ensure that you receive both audio and visual notifications for important channels in Microsoft Teams.
Select your device type to learn how to set up your notifications:
In Microsoft Teams, click Settings and More(three dots in the top right).
Select Settings → Notifications and activity.
Under Sound, ensure Play sound for notifications is turned ON.
For a specific channel of high importance:
Right-click the channel name → Channel notifications.
Set All new posts to Banner and feed.
Ensure Include all replies is checked if you want alerts for all messages.
Open the Microsoft Teams app on your mobile device.
Tap your profile picture in the top left corner.
Go to Notifications.
Under Notify me for, select Custom.
Note: If you are on an android device, you may be presented with a screen to allow notifications. Be sure to allow notifications and click on Notification Categories at the bottom.
Ensure alerts are enabled for:
@mentions
Channel Replies
Likes and Reactions (optional) (You can toggle the notifications here On and Off based on your need.)
Go back to the notifications window and scroll down to Set channel notifications. Click Channels.
Type to search for the specific channel for which you want to receive notifications.
Toggle notifications for this channel to on.
Go back to the notifications window and scroll down to Block notifications.
Turn off "Block when active on desktop" or "Block when active on another device" to ensure you receive notifications on your phone even while you are logged into Teams elsewhere.
Make sure your phone is not on silent and Teams has permission to play notification sounds in device settings.
