Subject: Upcoming Upgrade to Microsoft Teams Calling for Faculty 

We are pleased to inform you that King’s University College will be upgrading the faculty phone system from MaX UC to Microsoft Teams Calling, aligning with the platform already in use by non-academic staff. 

This change is part of a broader initiative to modernize our communication tools, improve collaboration, and reduce costs. The transition will take place between June and September 2025. 

What This Means for You  

  • Your current MaX UC phone number will remain the same, but you will access it through Microsoft Teams.  

  • You will be issued a King’s account with an @kings.uwo.ca email address. At this time the email address will automatically forward to your @uwo.ca address.  

  • You’ll benefit from improved communication tools, including voice and video calls, and voicemail transcription.  

Call to Action & Timeline:  

On DATE you will receive an email with instructions on initiating your @kings.uwo.ca account. It will contain your new email address as well as a link to a temporary password.   

You can use this new email and password to:  

  1. Sign into King’s Teams – you can be signed into both UWO and King’s Teams in one app.  

  1. Create a new password – minimum 16 characters in length. Can be all lower-case with spaces. For example: battery horse staple.  

  1. Set up King’s Duo MFA   

On August 20th, your existing MaX UC number will be ported to your King’s Microsoft Teams account, and you will be able to use Teams to make calls.

  • Improved collaboration between faculty and administrative units within a unified Teams environment.  

  • Enhanced access to institutional email and services.  

  • Significant cost savings that can be reinvested into campus technology and support.
