Are you a "First in Family (New Generation) Student"?

The Government of Ontario has allocated the funding to create a bursary fund for First Generation Students through the Ministry's Access and Opportunities Strategy. This bursary opportunity will provide direct support to students with financial need who are the first in their families to attend University. Criteria: Student's parents did not attend any post-secondary studies whatsoever, must be considered an Ontario resident, must be enrolled full time in the current academic year, must be returning to full time study in the next academic year, must have a financial need that exceeds the value of the bursary ($2,500.00) 

Eligibility
  • Student's parents did not attend any post-secondary studies, in any program, full-time or part-time, in or outside of Canada,at any time
  • Must be enrolled full time in the current  academic year, must be returning to full time study in the next academic year
  •  Must have a financial need that exceeds the value of the bursary ($2,500.00) 
  • The applicant must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada
  • The applicant must be an Ontario Resident, as specified by the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
