Barnett Lectures featuring Dr. Ian Rae

Dr. Ian Rae will be lecturing on J.D. Barnett, the founder of the Arts Library at Western, as well as on the significance of his 40,000-volume book collection, and the endangered state of this collection in light of the proposed changes to Weldon Library, which would disperse several important book collections for storage in Toronto and other remote locations.

The lectures on Barnett will be hosted by the Western Early Modern Society because Barnett had the largest private collection of Shakespeariana in Canada and because Barnett helped to lay the cultural foundations in Stratford that led to the creation (years after his death) of the Stratford Festival, the largest classical theatre in North America.
