On Thursday November 5, King’s professor and Royal Society of Canada member Dr. Robert Ventresca spoke at St. Mark’s Chapel, St. Marks’ College event Pius XII and the Jews: Problems of Memory and Moral Judgement in History. This event, which featured Dr. Ventresca as the main lecturer, also featured Dr. Richard Menkis, Associate Professor of Medieval and Modern Jewish History, UBC, and Dr. Paul Burns, Dean of Liberal Arts, Corpus Christi College, and Adjunct Professor of Theology, Saint Mark’s College as panel speakers. The trio discussed Pope Pius XII’s relationship with Judaism and the people before, during and after the Holocaust.
