As part of the One Word, One Donation initiative, on now, King’s University College Alumni and Development is asking students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to find one word that describes what King’s means to them, and to share that word with the greater King’s community.

The process of becoming involved with the One Word, One Donation is simple. Communicate your word on social media: using #KingsOneWord, by commenting on a post, or by sharing a photo of yourself holding the sign that contains the one word that describes your King’s experience.

“We hope that thinking about the one word will inspire people to reminisce about their time at King’s, sharing stories and reminding themselves and others what they love about King’s! We hope to start conversations about what makes this place so special. It’s really engaging the entire King’s community,” says Kim Malcolm, Manager of Development. So far, words such as love, potential, opportunity, transformation, family, friendship and home have been posted to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and to the King’s website.

While One Word may start students, past and present, to think about their King’s story, one donation can make a difference and give future students the chance to write their own stories. As part of the One Word, One Donation initiative, participants are encouraged to make a donation to the Annual Fund in honour of their one word.

“The Annual Fund supports every part of the student experience, from meaningful scholarships and awards, to enhanced study space and student resources, to transformative learning opportunities. The money we’re raising supports student life,” says Malcolm.
