Congratulations to King’s alumnus, Jason Wilcox, ’07 BMOS, who was awarded EY Entrepreneur Of the Year® 2019 Ontario award in the Business to Business Products and Services category.

Wilcox, the co-founder & Managing Partner of Waste Solutions Canada, a leading national consultant in waste management services, says winning the award was “an extremely proud moment for me. Very unexpected and truly humbling.”

“Although an individual award, it took an awesome team that stands beside me to achieve this milestone.  Very proud of what we’re accomplishing and excited for the future,” says Wilcox.

In his first year at King’s, Wilcox decided to take Business 20 and loved the business case study format of the course so much, he switched to BMOS in his second year. “It also helped to have awesome professors such as Ken Bowlby, John Siambanopoulos and Dr. Trevor Hunter,” says Wilcox. The decision ultimately set him on the path to entrepreneurship.

"Waste Solutions Canada uses innovative technology and buying power to help clients save money while increasing landfill diversion. Using ultrasonic wireless sensors, we are able to remotely monitor waste and recycling activities at client sites in order to hold vendors accountable and make smarter decisions on how to handle waste,” explains Wilcox.

Wilcox says his role as managing partner is to lead the company’s national team on innovation and growth strategies. He also plays an active role in business development for national accounts.

Congratulations, Jason!
