On the afternoon of Saturday, March 28th, over 80 International and Exchange students, Peer guides, King’s International staff, and special guests gathered in the Vitali Lounge to celebrate the end of another successful academic year.  Among those attending the year-end celebration for this years graduating class were members of the Chongqing Technology and Business University exchange (CTBU) and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics Exchange (DUFE). The event also marked the completion of the 2014/2015 Peer Guide Program.

The celebration opened with live music performed by King’s International staff member Thomas Metcalfe and his brother Kevin, with guests enjoying a slideshow presentation documenting International students engagement throughout the 2014-15 academic year. Guests mingled, and enjoyed a catered meal by Aramark of chicken satay, meatballs, sushi, samosas, fresh vegetables, and dips, with the event being topped off with a serving of cake. After eating, all graduating students were acknowledged and received gifts courtesy of King’s Alumni Affairs. The microphone was then opened to all students and guests who spoke of their emotional experiences this past year, and of the lifelong friendships they had forged.

Throughout the event, guests were encouraged to participate in documenting the celebration by posing for pictures using a photo booth. Guests enjoyed dressing up using King’s-themed props and costumes to capture their most hilarious moments. A Polaroid camera was also used to document the event with the pictures being pinned to a memory board throughout the event to enable participants to record the highlights of their King’s experience. The evening came to a close with a prize draw and a tulip being given to each attendee of the program.

The event ended with many heartfelt hugs and more than a few tears. Congratulations to all graduates, international students, exchange students returning home, staff and peer guides 2014-2015!
