The Cardinal Carter Library at King’s is accepting used textbooks for Textbooks for Change.

Acceptable books include University and college textbooks published in the last 15 years. Study guides, course packs, foreign language textbooks and other material that assists in the studying process are also welcome. Donations can be placed inside the entrance of the Cardinal Carter Library.

Textbooks for Change provides affordable and accessible educational material to students both locally and across the globe. Every textbook donated is reused or recycled. Textbooks for Change donates 50% of the textbooks to partner campus libraries in East Africa, resells 20% of textbooks at affordable prices to students at local campuses and recycles any out-of-date, damaged, or unusable textbooks.

Across Western (including affiliates), 64,576 books have been collected with 29,339 books donated to East African libraries.

Western grad, Chris Janssen and co-founder Tom Hartford launched Textbooks for Change in 2014 to improve the educational landscape for post-secondary students around the world.
