This was part of a story about a group of Toronto high school students being unable to travel to Kansas City, Missouri, for a competition due to concerns around safety.

Dr. Silcox discusses youth crime rates in CBC story
Dr. Jennifer Silcox, Assistant Professor of Childhood and Youth Studies, lent her research knowledge in crime in Canada involving youth and girls to a CBC story about the beating of a young teenager in a London city park. She says that overall, youth crime rates are very low, so any increase in those numbers can be misconstrued.
