The purpose of this policy is to allow students, faculty, staff and others to use library space and services without interference by groups or individuals engaged in unsanctioned activities.

Solicitation is not permitted in the Cardinal Carter Library.

This policy applies to anyone entering the library both internal and external to the King’s University College community.

Definition:

“Solicitation” within the context of this policy includes, but is not restricted to, any activity of a group or individual that endeavours to promote the use or sale of a particular service or product, distribution of promotional material (brochures, leaflets, flyers, posters, etc.), direct one-on-one soliciting and appeals for contributions or donations.  Any comparable activity in the area directly outside the library’s entrance or in the foyer is also not permitted.

Exceptions:
  1. With the permission of the Director of Libraries, solicitation by official campus clubs or groups for charitable or fundraising purposes (food drives, book drives, etc.).
  2. Invited vendor representatives engaged in legitimate business transactions with the library (demonstrations of products and/or services).

Individuals or groups in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the library.
