Applications now being accepted for summer of 2018 

The Cardinal Carter Library at King's University College at The University of Western Ontario offers evening and weekend shifts to MLIS students at the Faculty of Information and Media Studies. For those who wish to gain experience in the provision of reference services in an academic setting, this is an attractive complement to full-time studies. Applications from those just entering the MLIS program are encouraged. King's University College is the largest of Western's three affiliate university colleges serving a largely undergraduate population of some 3,500 students, and supporting graduate programs in social work and theology (via St. Peter's Seminary).

During the fall and winter terms shifts are:
September through April

Monday - Thursday:            5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Saturday:                              9:45 AM - 2:00 PM and 2:00PM - 6:00PM

Sunday:                                11:45 AM - 4:00 PM and 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM  

During the summer term shifts are:
May and June

Monday - Thursday:             4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Saturday:                              10:45 AM - 4:00 PM 


Monday - Thursday:              4:00 PM - 7:00 pm 

Applicants should be currently enrolled in the MLIS program at FIMS, and be fluent in both spoken and written English. Excellent customer relations skills and knowledge of the humanities and social sciences literature are essential. You should be able to work independently in the context of the Library policies and practices provided and should enjoy serving a diverse student and faculty clientele.
