On March 21, 2019 King’s Campus Ministry is pleased to welcome Dr. Catherine E. Clifford for her lecture on women’s participation and involvement in the Catholic Church today. She will discuss the ways women are active in the church and how women’s involvement can be included in the structure of the church.

Jim Donovan Panchaud, Pastoral Counsellor at King’s, states that Dr. Clifford’s talk is important to the King’s community because “there is an evolving role of women in the Catholic Church and this lecture is an opportunity for the community to think about women’s roles in the church through dialogue.”  The ongoing dialogue of women’s participation in the Church today is also reflected in a statement by Pope Francis that there needs to be a more widespread and inclusive female presence in the Church.  Dr. Catherine E. Clifford’s lecture will be part of that ongoing dialogue.

Panchaud explains the Veritas Lecture Series is a way to “encourage the King’s community to see outside their comfort zones in order to have a bigger vision of what the world can be.” All are welcome to attend this free lecture. Freewill donations at the door are gratefully accepted.

The next lecture in the series is Conversations with Kids4Peace and involves a series of workshops on March 28-29 for secondary school students to explore the ways they can build peace in the world through faith. The public lecture takes place on March 28, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in the Joanne and Peter Kenny Theatre.  The workshops and lecture are sponsored by the Centre for Jewish-Catholic-Muslim Learning.
