King’s will join universities across Canada in observing a national moment of silence on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 1 p.m. ET for the lives lost on Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752. Please pause from your teaching, work, studies and activities to remember and extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of those who perished. Of the 176 victims, many were students, faculty, researchers, and alumni of universities across Canada, including four students at Western University.

We will lower our flags again tomorrow prior to the national moment of silence.

While involvement in this national gesture is voluntary and flexible, we ask you to join our colleagues here and across the country to pause as best you are able.

Further, Western has invited the wider community to a Memorial Service at 4 p.m. in Alumni Hall to remember and mourn the victims who were part of our community. Together, the lives of Hadis Hayatdavoudi, Milad Nahavandi, Ghazal Nourian and Sajedeh Saraeian will be celebrated.
