Mustangs Women’s Softball team takes 8th consecutive OIWFA Provincial Championship on October 22.

Congratulations to King’s student-athletes, Kristen Pearn and Rachelle Washkevich, who are members of the women’s softball team. Pearn is completing a specialization in History with a major in Criminology. Washkevich is majoring in Disabilities Studies.

The final game began on October 15, but was suspended when Mother Nature rendered the field unplayable.  The team moral remained strong allowing a 1-0 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks on October 22 when play resumed. The win is the Mustangs eighth consecutive provincial title and 10th overall in program history.

Mustangs stepped up to the plate with one out at the bottom of the fifth, and the teams tied at 0.  The scoring run came when Briar Balas’ solid hit drove Emma Murray over home plate.  Rachel Jacques was named Championship MVP after pitching all seven innings and allowing only two hits.
