King’s students will have the opportunity to contribute feedback on their courses and instructors, as part of the first-term Student Questionnaires on Courses and Teaching (SQCT), open from November 19 – December 10, 2020.

The feedback will positively affect King’s going forward, both with assisting departments and schools with course planning and because results are available to students, they will be able to use the information for course selection.

“The Student Questionnaires on Courses and Teaching are of the utmost importance for the 2020-21 academic year as the feedback will enable King’s to carefully assess the academic needs of students in the virtual learning environment. This, in the current context, will help inform King’s planning for the Summer 2021 and Fall/Winter 2021-22 terms” says Thomas Gray, Academic Data and Operations Coordinator.

Western University will email students a link to the online survey, focusing on each of their courses and instructors’ teaching. Because the surveys are anonymized by Western, the instructor will be unable to associate the feedback with individual students.

The survey consists of 15 questions including four demographic questions and 11 scaled questions. Two comment boxes will also be provided to allow for written comments from students.

The survey can be completed on any device, on or off campus. Gray estimates it should take between three to five minutes to complete the questionnaires.

Because King’s is now a largely virtual campus, the time set aside to complete the questionnaire has been extended to three weeks.

The 2018-2019 academic year was the first implementation of the online questionnaire. “It’s been a great success for us at King’s,” says Gray.
