King's alumni in Parliament: graduates making a national impact
June 11, 2025
During a recent trip to Ottawa, Dr. Robert Ventresca, Interim President, met with two members of the alumni family whose King's education laid the foundation for them to now serve as Members of Parliament.
Dr. Ventresca met with Peter Fragiskatos, BA'04, Member of Parliament for London Centre and Sandra Cobeña, BMOS'10, Member of Parliament for Newmarket – Aurora.
Cobeña reflected on her time at King’s and the impact that it had on her life and career.
“King’s was a small school but it made a big mark on my life. Its size made it easy to feel at home, to raise your hand, and to dive in,” says Cobeña. She shared her fond memories of professors, including Dr. Trevor Hunter of the School of Management, Economics, and Mathematics (MEM), and of the lifelong friends she made at King’s.
“I never imagined I’d one day serve in this role. But the truth is, King’s gave me the foundation—intellectually and personally—to get here. Thank you to the entire King’s community for your commitment to excellence,” she adds.
King’s is proud to count three Members of Parliament, including Amandeep Sodhi, BA'23, Member of Parliament for Brampton Centre, as members of the King’s alumni.
