Homecoming 2021 will take place on September 23-26. King’s Alumni and Development have worked towards presenting a variety of virtual events for this year’s Homecoming, keeping the health and safety of our community members as their top priority.

“King’s Homecoming is a time of celebration that brings alumni, faculty, and students together to reconnect. Every year, we look forward to seeing alumni and hearing about memorable moments from their time at King’s. Although we had hoped to gather on campus for Homecoming 2021, celebrating virtually has the unique benefit of allowing alumni to participate, reunite, and reminisce from anywhere in the world. We look forward to seeing alumni online again this year at our many Homecoming events,” says Jana Gordon, Executive Director, Alumni and Development.

Homecoming 2021 includes new events, such as:

A virtual cooking class with Growing Chefs! Ontario  - Let Executive Chef, Katherine Jones of local registered charity, Growing Chefs! Ontario, professionally guide you through a virtual cooking class: Modern Italian Classics. Through preparing the menu of Antipasto Salad and Risotto Carbonara, the class will teach participants lifelong cooking skills that they will use to make modern interpretations of classic Italian dishes. Your $10 registration fee: includes full recipe printouts, complete shopping list, and virtually guided chef instruction.

King’s Faculty Fireside Chat - Join Professors Dr. Alison Meek, Associate Professor of History, Dr. Felipe Rodrigues, Assistant Professor of the School of Management, Economics and Mathematics and Dr. Eunice Gorman, Associate Professor and Department Chair of Thanatology for a casual conversation on topics related to COVID-19, including conspiracy theories, predictive modelling, and emotional challenges faced during the global pandemic.

There will also be several faculty reunions being held over the course of Homecoming.

Returning events will include:

  • Life After King’s – Alumni Athletes included a star-studded line-up of former Mustang athletes discuss their experiences since graduating from King’s.
  • Alumni Awards Ceremony - Nancy Sutherland ’85 and Joe MacDonald ’80 will receive the Alumni Award of Distinction and Monica Ciriello ’09 will receive the Recent Graduate Award as part of a special virtual ceremony.
  • Rick McGhie will return for a Friday Night Livestream performance, but with a twist. Rick will be taking requests. Submit the name and artist of your favourite tunes to alumni@kings.uwo.ca. Tune into King’s YouTube channel to sing along!
