Dr. Dorotea Gucciardo, is President of The Canadian Science and Technology Historical Association, a national society devoted to the study of the history of Canadian science and technology. This organization aims to make scientific and technical history better known and to make this subject an important element in Canadian historiography.

The biennial conference entitled “Innovation or Aberration? Science, Technology, and Historical Meanings of Failure” was held at King’s November 3-5, 2017.

The keynote address “Lost Histories of Technological Failure” was given by Dr. Edward Jones-Imhotep from York University.

The conference included tours of The Medical Artifact Collection at Western University, the Cronyn Observatory at Western, several presentations and a roundtable discussion.

Dr. Gucciardo teaches the History of Science.
