Dr. Mark Yenson, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, has been appointed Associate Academic Dean, effective June 15, 2022. With 12 years of experience at King's, most recently as Chair of Religious Studies, Dr, Yenson is a widely respected colleague who combines intellectual rigour with an inclusive and empathetic approach to leadership.  By virtue of his extensive experience in the classroom and as department Chair, Mark brings to the position a solid understanding of our educational policies and a collegial approach to developing and implementing those policies, to advance teaching and learning.

"I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Mark and of working collaboratively with him for many years. I’m thrilled to be working with him in this new capacity, to advance the core academic mission of King’s.  Congratulations, Mark, and all best wishes in your new role," says Dr. Robert Ventresca, interim Academic Dean.

Dr. Yenson has led Rome and the Christian Tradition, an experiential learning course which saw King's students travel to Rome and, in 2020, even gave several an opportunity to shake hands with Pope Francis. He has also travelled with King's students to Arezzo, Italy as part of the King's at Rondine experiential learning course. Rondine is a Nobel-prize nominated centre that focuses on eradicating conflict by focusing on cultural, ethnic and political engagement.

His Religious Studies seminar on Truth and Reconciliation studied Pope Francis's apology to Canadian Indigenous Peoples, Inuit Peoples and Metis Peoples regarding the Canadian residential school system, and was featured on CTV London.

Dr. Yenson is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Centre for Advanced Research in Catholic Thought.
