Braedan Lovie begins term as KUCSC President
September 15, 2025
Congratulations to Braedan Lovie, who assumed the role of King’s University College Students’ Council (KUCSC) president on May 1. A fourth-year student distinguished by his academic and co-curricular engagement, Lovie is completing an honours specialization in Social and Political Thought, a major in French Language and Literature, and a certificate in Law and Public Policy. He is also a graduate of the King’s Scholar program.
Lovie is looking forward to seeing what this new year brings to both him and the new council. “I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community at King's, which has supported me throughout my undergraduate career,” he says.
Lovie assumes office with a commitment to continuing the work of his predecessors, notably Ricardo Soto and Laura Crowe, whose leadership he credits with laying a strong foundation for effective student governance. Lovie is already thinking about the future of King’s as he wants to provide the same foundation for his successor.
Lovie wants to achieve three major goals during his tenure as KUCSC President. He hopes to continue to bring an authentic voice to the good governance of King's, foster goodwill and build relationships both within King's and in our larger university ecosystem, and lead in a way that every member of this incoming council's voice feels acknowledged and valued.
He will take on the new role equipped with the knowledge he gained as the executive assistant to the KUCSC president during the 2024-2025 academic year, which gave him an appreciation for the roles and responsibilities required in the role of president. He augmented that experience with his time involved in King’s Academic Mentoring Program (KAMP), a faculty representative on the Council, and in executive roles in several clubs.
“The holistic view of student life that I've developed through my experience at King's has been a major factor in my taking up this role,” says Lovie. He speaks of his time at King’s not only in terms of academic growth but also as a formative personal journey. “The person that King's has enabled me to become is something special,” says Lovie. He says King’s has allowed him to come into himself. Above and beyond the academic benefits that King’s has given him, he says, “the whole of my person has been cultivated. The friends I've made, the connections I've built, and the support I've received have given me the chance to blossom.”
Lovie’s presidency marks a continuation of the tradition of student leadership at King’s—one grounded in academic excellence, community engagement, and a commitment to the collective well-being of the student body.
We extend our best wishes to Braedan Lovie as he embarks on this important role.
