Research Ethics Review Committee
A ‘heads-up’ to Faculty from the Research Ethics Review Committee regarding Survey Monkey Disclaimer
A decision was made in the November 2012 RERC meeting that RERC will be adding a disclaimer regarding the use of Survey Monkey. Confidentiality can’t be guaranteed in Survey Monkey and that there is no way of knowing if others will misuse the information collected. Survey Monkey might be okay if the information being sought is particularly sensitive, but innocuous. However, for surveys seeking personal information or opinions a more secure program is necessary.
Please ‘stay tuned’ with RERC regarding the disclaimer for using Survey Monkey.
