A mix of domestic and international students, 49 in all, visited Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City on a four-day, three-night trip, braving cold weather, exploring signature tourist attractions, and learning more about Canadian culture, and each other.

The trip provided students with social learning experiences where they could strengthen their existing friendships and forge new bonds with other students on the journey. "I've been able to learn more about Canada's capital and make new bonds and friendships," says Lauren Martin, a fourth-year Childhood and Youth Studies student.

Omarr Williamson from ISX Tours guided the King’s students through each stop. He shared interesting facts about the architecture of each destination, delicious food recommendations, and exciting sites and attractions our students could visit for free. "The tour guide was informative. He has been interactive and makes learning about each city fun and interesting. He explained the monuments and buildings, which was more than I expected. I loved learning the history of Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City," says Ronit Teckchandani, a second-year Accounting student.

Doreen Vautour, Associate Dean of Students; Emily Skinner, Student Engagement and Transition Coordinator; and Olivia Yusuf, International Student Programs and Engagement Coordinator, joined the students to ensure they had support and were safe throughout their journey. "The French Canada trip is one of my favourite King's traditions. It is always great to see our students build lifelong friendships, explore Canada, and create amazing memories as part of their King's experience," said Olivia Yusuf, International Student Programs and Engagement Coordinator, King's International.

King’s is committed to celebrating cultural diversity by providing students with internationalization and intercultural learning opportunities. Seeing the Notre Dame Basilica and walking down the cobblestone streets of Old Quebec and Montreal allowed students to appreciate the diversity of Canadian culture. It also gave them time to share and learn more about each other. “I am so grateful to King’s for allowing me to explore these new places in Canada and meet the other international students as well as the domestic students,” said Daniela Sanchez, an exchange student from Ecuador.
