Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education

Admission is competitive and enrollment is limited.  Possession of the minimum requirements as listed here should not be viewed as a guarantee of admission.

  1. Applicants who wish to be considered for admission to Western University on the basis of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) must submit the following:

    Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education results sent directly to Western from the Hong Kong Examinations Authority.  Certificates must be official. Photocopies are acceptable if certified by school principal, head, or counsellor. Notarized copies are not acceptable.

    Applicants may be considered for conditional admission on the basis of predicted results while in progress in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE).  Predicted HKDSE results and and an academic record to date must be submitted directly to Western from the institution(s) attended.

    Applicants who wish to be considered for admission to Western University on the basis of the Senior Matriculation from Hong Kong completed prior to 2012 must submit the following to be eligible for admission consideration:

    • Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) and/or Advanced Supplemental (AS) Levelcertificates sent directly to Western from the Hong Kong Examinations Authority.  Certificates must be official. Photocopies are acceptable if certified by school principal, head, or counsellor. Notarized copies are not acceptable.

      Applicants may be considered for conditional admission on the basis of predicted results while in progress in HKALE courses.  Predicted results and final HKCEE results must be submitted directly to Western from the institutions attended.

      This online form must be completed by either a Counsellor or Principal from the applicant’s school.  Results submitted by an applicant will not be accepted.
      If you are unsure whether you are required to complete this form, please refer to either the “To Do List” in you Student Center or the required documents section of your acknowledgement letter.

      Note:  Students who receive a “B” on final HKALE Advanced Level exams will receive transfer credit for those courses approved by the appropriate faculty.  Please contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office for details.

      Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) results are required for additional academic record.  Photocopies are acceptable if certified by school principal, head, or counsellor.
  2. Proof of English language proficiency.  Test results must be issued directly to Western from the Examining Board.  Western's institution code is 0984.  Please review King's English language proficiency requirements. Scanned copies of English language proficiency test results may be submitted directly to King's via email in order to quicken the admission assessment process.
