Hussein Sam Chams’21 (BA Honours Specialization in Political Science)– As a first-generation university student, Hussein Sam Chams has overcome significant adversity during his time at King’s. He is a caregiver to his mother, who became an amputee after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer. While at King’s, Chams served in various roles as a club executive, coach, academic mentor, voting students’ council representative and voting King’s College Council Representative. Chams was awarded the Dr. Hugh Mellon Scholarship and Dr. Jeffrey Cormier Memorial Award from King’s. At the national level, Chams competed and was awarded the Canada Graduate Scholarship by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council twice. Chams will be attending law school this fall in Toronto.
