History of Giving
Since the first fundraising campaign in 1988, our donors have made a significant impact on both the landscape and student experience at King's. Your support continues to make a difference, and we are grateful for past, present and future donors who support the mission and vision of King's.
History of Development at King’s University College
Sharing the Vision – 1988-1993
The first major fundraising campaign for King’s supported student assistance programs, the construction of the Cardinal Carter Library and library enhancements, the construction of Alumni Court Residence, academic enrichment programs, and the Centre for Social Concern.
Cardinal Carter Library Campaign – 1992-1996
Building on funds raised during the Sharing the Vision Campaign, the Cardinal Carter Library Campaign was established to raise funds for the completion of the new Library. Construction of the Cardinal Carter Library was completed in 1995.
Paving Stone Program - 1994-2010
Supporting highest priority needs, the Paving Stone Program provided donors with the opportunity to honour their memories of King's by purchasing a paving stone. Although the paving stones are no longer displayed on campus walkways due to damage, a full listing of supporters is available online.
The King’s College Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (OSOTF/OTSS) – 1996-2012
With dollar-for-dollar matching funds from the Government of Ontario, this Campaign focused on creating endowment funds to support student financial need.
Building Faith, Building Futures – 2000-2003
This multi-project Campaign focused on raising funds for a new Academic Centre, library enhancements, scholarships and bursaries, accessibility, and the Pastoral Leadership Studies Program. The Ministry of Education and Training supported the Campaign through the SuperBuild program, and Elizabeth A. “Bessie” Labatt Hall officially opened in 2003.
Student Life Campaign – 2008
The most ambitious fundraising initiative in the College’s history, the Student Life Campaign supported two key initiatives: the Darryl J. King Student Life Centre and financial assistance for students. The Campaign established 48 new student awards and bursaries. The doors to the Darryl J. King Student Life Centre officially opened in January 2014.
