How to proceed after your application has been approved

(How to apply - click here)

1. Job Descriptions

Visit Career Central  on a regular basis between November and July to view the job descriptions and interview schedules etc. Apply for as many positions as you like - make sure to check

  • the application deadline dates,
  • interview dates,
  • length/dates of internship,
  • requested degree programs,
  • and the directions for applying for the position.

Follow the method of application stated in the job posting.

An Internship Calendar summarizes employer job descriptions and upcoming deadline dates.

2. Interview Sign up

All students who receive an interview will be contacted by e-mail. You will also see these interview requests when you log into Career Central. Interviewees should select and sign up for a time on the interview schedule on-line. Interviews will be held in the interview rooms located in UCC, room 210. Some interviews may be off campus or by telephone.

3. Interviews

Attend the first interview. If a second interview is necessary, it may be scheduled at the employer’s location but will be arranged between the employer and the student

4. Job Offers

Employers will contact The Student Success Centre @ Western with job and salary offers. Students have 48 hours to accept or decline the offer. All students should seriously consider a job offer before accepting it. Reneging on a job offer after it has been accepted is not permitted.

Once a job offer is accepted, students will arrange to meet with Colleen Sutherland, at The Student Success Centre, Western Student Services Bldg, Room 3100H, to sign the Internship Contract.

Registration and payment
The University of Western Ontario will invoice students who have signed an Internship Contract in late summer (no matter the start date of the work term) for an Internship Fee. The fee is payable through the Student Centre webpage (Registrar’s Office)

The Internship Fee is non-refundable. Please see conditions for payment of this fee under Policies and Procedures.

PLEASE NOTE: The Industry Internship Fee is an administrative charge to support the cost of running the Internship Program and not a tuition fee. Income Tax forms will not be issued.
