MHIW 2019: Hands On! will take place at King’s University College in London, Ontario. We welcome all Deaf and hearing Interpreters.

Our theme Hands On! will give participants from across Canada the opportunity to put theory into practice by engaging in role-play activities supported by King’s Psychology and Social Work students. Deaf and hearing mental health clinicians will be sharing their expertise and knowledge in mental health. Dr. Cathy Chovaz, Director of CDEAF will be giving the keynote address titled “Lived Experience Deaf (LED) and Language Deprivation”.

Through a mental health lens we will discuss ASL and English terminology, ethical decision making, theoretical orientations and how they shape counseling, compassion fatigue and DI/HI team work.
