King’s students have one week to contribute their feedback on their courses and instructors as part of the second-term Student Questionnaires on Courses and Teaching (SQCT). It is open now until March 31, 2019.

Western University has emailed students a link to the online survey, focusing on each of their courses as well as their instructors’ teaching. The surveys are anonymized by Western, so the instructor will not be able to associate the feedback with individual students.

The survey consists of 15 questions including four demographic questions and 11 scaled questions. Two comment boxes are also provided, should the student wish to provide written comments.

This feedback will positively affect King’s going forward.  “The results will help instructors improve their courses and teaching over time,” says Thomas Gray, Academic Data and Operations Coordinator. In addition to assisting departments and schools with course planning, because results are available to students, it will help them with course selections in the future.

The survey can be completed on any device, on or off campus.

Fifteen minutes will be allocated at the beginning of each class for students to respond on their devices. Gray estimates it should take students between three to five minutes to complete the questionnaires.

The first term SQCT’s were the first done following a transition from a paper-based system to an online questionnaire. “We did astonishingly well. We attained a 60 percent overall response rate and we hope to exceed this in second term,” says Gray.

Students who complete their SQCT will be eligible to win a $500 Amazon gift card as part of a raffle operated by Western University.
