With the COVID-19 crisis posing a range of challenges for many people, King’s Masters of Social Work interns have created a library of tip sheets, which includes information and resources aimed at providing support for students. The sheets give specific guidance to help students manage a variety of important topics of particular relevance during the pandemic, such as how to stick to a schedule, get regular exercise, and manage financial insecurities.

The compilation of tip sheets can be found on King’s website, and will be updated on a regular basis. The current collection includes sheets on “Coping with Relationship Stress”, “Dealing with Procrastination during COVID-19”, “Loneliness and Isolation”, and other valuable information.

The tips sheets were created by MSW interns Jenna Froebelius and Rose Tanaye in King’s Accessibility, Counselling and Student Development Department. “I am confident that the well-researched and thoughtful information on each of the tip sheets will be both extremely relevant and useful to students during this often stressful time” says Melissa Page Nichols, Personal and Accessibility Counsellor.

The tip sheet initiative gives King’s students a convenient place to seek out reliable information without becoming overwhelmed, thanks to their condensed and easy-to-read format.

“We created these tip sheets as a ‘one-stop shop’ for students because we became aware of how easy it is to become inundated with information around the pandemic and acknowledge how overwhelming this can be. In a time where we are more connected than ever, it’s easy to feel as if we are being overloaded with information about how we should best be handling the pandemic. We incorporated tips that are easy and realistic that we believe students will be able to use in their lives,” says Froebelius, King’s MSW student.

Froebelius hopes that these tips are useful for King’s students and that the information shared will be helpful, even after the pandemic is over.
