The King’s University College Students’ Council (KUCSC) is hosting a volunteer fair on January 22 and 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Life Centre. An information session will be held on January 24, which students are encouraged to attend. The information session will highlight the skills and references students gain for their resume as a volunteer. The information session will be held in the Student Life Centre from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Claire Linley, KUCSC Vice-President of Student Affairs explains “the volunteer information session is important because students need to know the benefits of volunteering.”

The KUCSC is also providing light refreshments and is running a draw for prizes from King’s Connection. KUCSC has made significant changes to the volunteer fair this year, such as adding the draw for prizes. The KUCSC hope these will draw students out to the event because they want students to be involved in the London community.  Linley adds that “volunteering is a great way for King’s students to connect with the London community and make a difference.”

The volunteer fair will have more than 30 organizations attending, such as Meals on Wheels, Anova and the Pillar Nonprofit Network. At the fair, students can speak to organizations to find out what they do and how involved they are in the London community. These organizations are looking for volunteers to give two to three hours of student’s time a week. Linley said that, “the KUCSC is bringing London to King’s rather than students going out and trying to find volunteer opportunities from scratch.”
