From Dr. David Malloy, King's Principal and Dr. John Mitchell, Associate Academic Dean and Acting Principal of Brescia to the Brescia and King’s communities:

Today, as follow up to our announcements regarding the King’s/Brescia Joint Principals’ Anti-Racism Working Group, we are sharing with you recent developments and plans for a broader community consultation on our draft framework and Terms of Reference.

The draft framework and Terms of Reference for the King’s/Brescia Anti-Racism Working Group have been identified and reviewed by senior leadership on both campuses. The draft framework was developed in alignment with the President’s Anti-Racism Working Group at Western University.

We encourage members of our community to review our Working Group’s Terms of Reference and submit feedback online. This is our first step in eliciting feedback from our students and community to seek consultation on our initiatives. The online form will be available through Wednesday, August 12. We invite all members of our communities to submit feedback by this deadline.

Following a review of community feedback, we expect that there will be an official call for expressions of interest for membership on the Joint Anti-Racism Working Group in mid-August.

As Catholic colleges with a common set of social justice values, Brescia and King’s are pleased to work together on this important initiative and commit to eradicating all forms of racism on our campuses. We seek to listen, learn and respond to our mission of fostering inclusive communities built on compassion, empathy and social justice. This is putting our Catholic values and social teaching, such as the inherent dignity of the human person, into action.
