ReShape Week (March 14-17th) is four days of prevention and education programming featuring lectures, keynote speakers, engaging activities, and workshops to continue the ongoing education efforts surrounding Gender-Based Sexual Violence (GBSV) for our campus community at Western and King’s.

At King’s, we have two workshops:

•March 15, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.  Grace in Rejection: Coping Compassionately. This workshop, presented in partnership with Western Student Experience will explore the experience of romantic or sexual rejection in a safe, welcoming setting.

•March 16, 1 - 2 p.m. Gender Based Sexual Violence: Supporting Survivors and Raising Awareness. Emily Carrothers, our Campus and Community Social Worker, and Joe Henry, Dean of Students, will be talking about GBSV on campus, and supports and resources available to those who need them.

King’s, along with Western, have dedicated resources in place to support students, faculty and staff. A reminder of the gender-based violence disclosure protocols and supports can be found on our website.

"When a student discloses an experience of gender-based violence (GBV), we encourage King’s faculty and staff to listen empathetically, and then offer the student a referral to the Dean of Students or our Campus and Community Social Worker. Students can also contact the Survivor Case Management at Western for support as well.

Throughout this past year, King’s has been engaging with students, faculty and staff to re-focus efforts to create new strategies to address GBSV. Thank you to all those who have contributed to these efforts and have been vocal in your efforts to create change.
