It’s time to take that secret talent out of the shower, basement or closet.
London’s Got Talent, a fundraiser for Single Women in Motherhood, is holding four auditions for talented Londoners to be selected to perform at the contest show Nov. 16 at King’s University College with a chance to win $1,000.
Event co-ordinator Jen Dafoe said about 30 people are expected to audition Saturday at noon, Oct. 5 at 4:30 p.m., Oct. 6 at noon and Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. for the chance to compete.
The auditions are being held at 4-296 Horton St. E. above the Tim Hortons.
Ten finalists will be selected from the auditions to compete and perform at the college’s Joanne and Peter Kenny Theatre.
“We’re looking for people with any talent — from dancing and singing to magic or anything — as long as you’re not a professional who earns their living from it,” said Dafoe.
She added that 300 attended the showcase last year.
Dafoe said the organization’s goal is to raise $3,000. Money raised from the event will go toward the prize, to a scholarship to be awarded that night to a single mom accepted or already enrolled in an educational program, and to support Single Women in Motherhood, which provides support and programs for single moms, from life skills to weekend breaks from the children.
