Writing studies professor, Tom Cull, receives teaching award

Tom Cull has been teaching at Western, largely in Writing Studies, for 10 years. His courses include the first year Writer’s Studio and seminar courses in Creative Writing, and he is perhaps best known for his course on Nature Writing (where students “write about nature, in nature.”) His success in the classroom has been recognized by multiple appearances on Western’s Honour Roll of excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

Professor Cull is an engaged and willing colleague, regularly helping with outreach activities including the popular ‘Write Now’ series. His work as a teacher and mentor of writers is continuous with his work as an activist and urban environmentalist. He sits on the boards of ReForest London and of the Antler River Rally, speaks regularly at high schools, and serves as a judge in poetry competitions both on and off-campus.
