AN ACADEMIC ESL PROGRAM FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

PURPOSE

To provide a stimulating four week program which includes English as a Second Language Instruction as well as faculty.  The program will provide an opportunity for the university students to connect with King’s student peers for an authentic Canadian experience engaging in local cultural activities and day trips to popular attractions including Niagara Falls (one of the world’s natural wonders) and Toronto (business capital of Canada).

LEARNING COMPONENTS

The program includes:

A series of interactive workshops and conversation circles lead by lecturers a number of different pedagogies:  traditional lectures, interactive workshops, group work and the case study approach.  (Approximately 16 hours)

English as a Second Language instruction by highly qualified and experienced faculty (approximately 64 hours)

INSTRUCTION HOURS: approximately 80 hours in total

LEARNING ASSESSMENTS

  • Attendance at lectures, workshops, site visits, business or skill talks and skill sessions
  • Participation in all learning activities
  • Participation in activities to increase English language fluency.
  • Report to home university

KING’S WILL PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION OF THE PROGRAM FOR CREDIT APPRAISAL TO PARTNER UNIVERSITY FOR STUDENT RECORDS.

The London region has a wide range of business activity in manufacturing, industry, infrastructure development, technology transfer, financial and insurance personal services, intellectual property licensing amongst others.

  • Airport transfer: pickup and return from Toronto

King’s would be delighted to extend a complimentary program (exclusive of airfare) to a member of faculty or administration of a partner University.
