Copyright and WebCT

Faculty members who post supplementary reading materials on WebCT are responsible for ensuring that those materials do not infringe copyright.

The issue of copyright in the digital classroom is complex; it is important to be aware that:

  • You may not convert a print journal article or book chapter(s) to PDF format to be posted on WebCT without the permission of the copyright owner.
  • Uploading copyrighted material on a password-protected website requires the permission of the copyright owner.
  • Permission to post some digital material to WebCT may be covered by the University’s licensed database subscriptions.
