Library Alumni Services
Borrowing
As Western alumni, graduates of King’s are entitled to borrowing privileges at the Cardinal Carter Library at King’s University College, as well as at the libraries of Brescia University College, Huron University College, St. Peter’s Seminary and at Western Libraries.
Alumni are permitted to borrow regular loan materials and are limited to 5 items at one time from the collection of the Cardinal Carter Library. Regular loan items may be renewed up to 3 times. Alumni are not permitted to borrow short-term loan items, to recall items on loan, or to use the Interlibrary Loan Services.
Library material may be returned to any Affiliate University College Library, any Western Library, to the Cardinal Carter Library Service Desk, or via the 24 hour book return.
Library Card
Your Western alumni card or recent expired Western ONECard is your library card. To set up a borrower account, present it, with one other piece of photo ID, to the staff at the Service Desk.
Information on obtaining an alumni card is available at http://alumni.uwo.ca/rewards/card.html.
On Campus Research
You are always welcome to visit the Cardinal Carter Library and use our facilities. In addition to borrowing books, you can:
- search the Shared Library Catalogue of over 11 million items;
- sign out books using your Alumni Card;
- search our hundreds of databases on site;
- use our reference and periodicals collections;
- ask us questions.
Off Campus Research
Western Alumni are not able to access Western Libraries online resources from home. Alumni seeking remote online database access should explore what is available through their local public library. Many public libraries provide online access to their collections for valid card holders.
