"Transforming Offender/Victim Relationships to Parent/Child Relationships that are Safe and Emotionally Beneficial for Child Sexual Abuse Victims"

Amanda Bell, MSW, RSW, PhD (Cand.)

Drawing upon the lived experiences of CAS workers, child victims, non-offending mothers, and abusive fathers, Amanda will present qualitative research findings that suggest when victimized children may be safe and may emotionally benefit from resuming a relationship with their sexually abusive father. She will highlight the positive impact of abusive father’s taking responsibility and will describe fathering behaviours identified by victims as being beneficial to their safety and healing.

John Densky

John Densky

John Densky is a documentary photographer living in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. John has continued to focus his lens on communities in direct conflict with the interests of corporate and financial agendas, be it in West Africa, the Balkans or at home in Canada.

John is an Instructor at Fanshawe College’s Contemporary Media program and speaks at academic institutions internationally. John continues to work as a freelance photographer with clients as varied as the New York Times through to International Bridges to Justice, an NGO from Austria.

In the summer of 2008, John began documenting the lives of young (under 25) pharmaceutical opiate addicts in South Western Ontario. After 2 years, friends were made, some were mourned and many important lessons were learned. Most importantly, a trust was built within the very community often absent from the table when policies are developed and laws are made.

In 2012 John remains friends with many of the people who took part in the ‘Ritalin Kids’ story. John can regularly be found amongst his friends, on the streets of London, Ontario.
