Program Objectives

The BSW (Honors) program at King’s University College is intended to provide the first-level professional Social Work qualification.

It adopts a direct service, generalist orientation.

The School of Social Work provides a learning environment characterized by excellence in social work education directed towards developing and fostering principled and competent professional practitioners who recognize the interrelatedness of human needs, social structures and oppressive conditions in their work with diverse populations.

Specific objectives of the program include education for Social Work practice with individuals, families, groups and communities emphasizing the social and organizational contexts of practice.

The opportunity to develop practice skills is provided through praticum experience in a variety of settings under professional supervision.

The Bachelor of Social Work (Honors) degree at King’s University College is accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE).
