King's Solar!

With the addition of solar panels to the roof of the Wemple building, King's is now produciong some of its own electricity. Check out the King's SolarVu portal to monitor how much electricity the solar panels are producing and the savings!

  • Ugly Sweater Day & Facebook Competition - February 6 - 9, 2012

ugly sweater dayOn Thursday, February 9, 2012, the King's University College Green Team will be hosting its first Ugly Sweater Day and Competition in support of the World Wildlife Fund's National Sweater Day. The event will take place all around King's campus where students, faculty and staff will be encouraged to sport their ugliest, warmest sweaters to help raise awareness about global warming and energy conservation. The WWF has asked everybody to turn down the heat, and turn up your sweater, on the upcoming National Sweater Day and that is exactly what the King's community will be doing with our Ugly Sweater Day and Competition.

Post your Sweater Picture on our Facebook event page to win the Sweater Prize Pack!

The Ugly Sweater competition opens on Monday, February 6 and close on February 9th. Participants are encouraged to post pictures of themselves to the King's Facebook event page facebook.com/kingsatwestern. in their ugliest sweaters for a chance to win a prize pack, courtesy of the King's University College Students' Council.

  • Dialogue & Action for Earth Summit 2012 - Tuesday, February 28 at 6:00 pm

King's Political Science Club and KUCSC will be hosting a very exciting and timely event on sustainability, the environment, green economy and equity, "Dialogue and Action for Earth Summit 2012."  King's is one of only 18 stops in this cross national tour organized by We Canada, a nation-wide non-profit social movement for Canadian leadership in sustainable development at the Earth Summit 2012.

  • LED Bulb Energy Awareness - March 2012

Visit the Green Team's display booth in the Cafeteria to learn about the energy consumption of a regular incandescent lightbulb versus a new LED bulb!  Your $2.00 ballot (all proceeds to fund the Green King's Tree Fund) enters you in a draw to win the new Phillips LED bulb and an energy conservation prize pack!  Stay tuned for more details!

 

  • KUCSC Tree Planting Event - April 2012

In partnership with ReForest London, the Green Team is proud to announce that the first tree planting will take place in mid-April in celebration of the generous fundraising contributions of the KUCSC!  More details on this event will be posted soon.

Thanks for joining the Green Team on Friday, October 21 at 11:00 a.m. for the 3rd annual Fall Campus Green-Up!

May 2011 - Spring Plant Sale

The Green Team is proud to present our first annual plant sale!  To help support local plant life and sustainable gardening, the Green Team will sell perennial plants to members of the King's community.  We raised over $300.00 for the Green King's Tree Fund.

October 21, 2010 - Campus Green-Up!

Thank you to all who participated in the 2nd annual October Campus Green-Up!  The cleanup was a success, and many bags of trash and recyclables were recovered from areas around campus.  Please visit our gallery to view the photos!
