I pay my bills online with my bank and I couldn't find the King's University College as a payee - where are you?

Make sure that you are including the apostrophe between the "g" and "s" in King's when searching at some institutions. King's is available at the five major banks. Searching King's remembering the apostrophe should bring up King's University College Fees as a choice. Please ensure that your nine-digit student number is entered as your account number. DO NOT PAY University of Western Ontario, as this is a common mistake.

I visited the www.uwo.ca website to view my account balance, it shows that I have paid zero and that my balance is zero, is that right?

King's students CANNOT currently view their account balances on their Student Centre. If you wish to get your up-to-date account balance please visit www.kucapplications.ca or come in-person to the Student Financial Services Office with photo identification and we will be happy to assist you.

OSAP

Am I too late to apply for OSAP? What is the deadline for applying for OSAP?

To receive funding for your full study period you must apply within 45 days of the beginning of the study period. If your application is received after the first 45 days of your study period and before the last 90 days of your study period you are eligible for OSAP only from the date the application was received in Student Financial Services. If your application is received within the last 90 days of the study period you will no longer be assessed for OSAP funding.

You are encouraged to apply for Ministry funding. You must apply online for funding at http://osap.gov.on.ca.  If you are a returning student, you must apply for OSAP by July 15, 2012.  If you are a first year student, you should apply by June 30, 2012 to be considered for all possible programs. If you apply by these dates and are awarded an assessment, you are entitled to a deferral of tuition fees.  All students must pay a tuition deposit upon 10 days of registering for their first course.  Students who apply after these dates, and the documents have not been received by the school would be required to pay their fees using one of the payment plans.  Deferrals other than the standard are done by the Student Financial Services Officer or the Assistant.

How many courses do I have to be taking to qualify for OSAP?

The Ministry requires students to be full time under Ministry guidelines. Their definition is:

"You are considered to be a full-time student if you are taking 60% or more of a full course load. A person with a permanent disability is considered to be a full-time student if he or she is taking at least 40% of a full course load."

Should you wish to change your status at any time please go to King's University College Financial Office for advice before doing Academic Counseling. A change to your academic load may affect you OSAP funding. A change of status needs to be received in the Student Financial Services Office with an effective date for processing.

I received my OSAP but I have dropped/added a course, will this affect my entitlement?

Yes, a change in course load could affect your OSAP entitlement. Come to Student Financial Services and complete an on-line change form. With this form, the change in your course load will be entered onto the Ministry system and your OSAP entitlement will be reassessed. It is your responsibility to inform Student Financial Services of any courses dropped or added - failure to do so may put you in overpayment status .

TAX INFO

What is the difference between a T2202A, a T4A and a T4?

T2202As are tuition tax receipts issued to all students for tuition related to the calendar year. These show the amount of tuition that can be deducted for income tax purposes as well as the number of months eligible for the education deduction. To access T2202As visit: student.uwo.ca and follow the instructions given.

T4As are tax slips issued to all students for scholarships, bursaries or other monetary awards from King's in the calendar year. The T4As show the amount that must be reported as income on the student's tax return. For questions about your T4As contact Shelly Guerin sguerin@uwo.ca

T4s are tax slips issued by an employer to employees for income they earned in the calendar year. Work Study and Teaching Assistants are issued T4s by King's payroll office.
