International Bridging Program

Attention International Students!
Please accept our invitation to participate in the King’s International Students’ Bridging Program. This program, which takes place from Sunday, August 26th to Sunday, Sept. 2th, 2012 provides an opportunity for new international students to become comfortable with King’s, Western and London prior to the excitement and hectic pace of the Orientation Program for all new students.
The program is a combination of academic orientation, practical workshops and lots of fun!
The ACADEMIC focus is very strong with a session on Academic Success with the Associate Academic Dean, a Writing Workshop, a Math Exercise (for those students interested in programs which require math), a Library Orientation, and an academic counselling appointment (if needed) to finalize any details of course registration.
The PRACTICAL sessions include: setting up bank accounts, an opportunity to purchase books and supplies, organizing health insurance, activating your UWO email account, getting your student ID card, exploring the King’s and Western campus, becoming familiar with London and sessions on student services, culture and financial issues.
The FUN includes: an excursion to the beach at The Pinery, shopping in London, an evening of mini-golf, go-carting, games, a Dinner Banquet, and an excursion to Niagara Falls (which includes seeing the Falls and a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist). Making new friends with other International and Canadian King’s students is a priority!!
This program is highly recommended and is available to both students and parents. The cost is $400.00 for students, which includes all sessions, activities, food and residence accommodation (if required). The cost per parent is $150.00 which includes all sessions, activities and food. Parents must make their own accommodation arrangements as residence space is reserved for incoming students. We hope this low cost will encourage everyone to participate! To register, print out a copy of the registration form. This form must be returned with fee arrangements prior to August 12th, 2012. We hope you will join us! If you have any questions, please contact us (tel 519-433-3491, fax 519-433-2227 or email international@kings.uwo.ca). We look forward to welcoming you to King’s!
