DUFE 2 + 2 Program
DUFE 2+2 Students Enjoy Great Success!
Students coming to King’s as part of the cooperation with Dongbei University in Dalian, China have enjoyed unprecedented success in moving into good jobs or Masters Degree programs. The King’s Registrar has noted that “The percentage of graduates from the 2+2 program with DUFE that are accepted immediately into a Masters program is higher than any other group of students at King’s. In fact, in North America it is rare that a student will be accepted into a Masters program in business directly from an Honors BA, yet many of the DUFE students have done just that! We attribute this wonderful success to the quality of the students and their great efforts and to both universities and their excellent cooperation”
We have not heard from all the graduates, but we are proud to report what we do know. After viewing the following list of students, read on for pictures, testimonials and information on the program...

DUFE Exchange 2006/2007
For readers who are interested in the structure of our cooperation agreement with DUFE, an outline of the program follows:
NATURE AND HISTORY OF PROGRAM
Transfer Ageement for Honors Economics and Management & Organizational Studies.
- An agreement to develop a transfer agreement for students at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) grew out of the success of the existing Huron/DUFE student program.
- Both King’s University College at The University of Western Ontario (King’s) and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) are accredited university institutions.
- King’s and DUFE consulted on the design of a curriculum for years one and two of the program at DUFE.
- The program is enhanced by an exchange of faculty in each year. The King’s faculty member on exchange teaches one course at DUFE to the students enrolled in the program.
- DUFE selects students for the first year of the program from among a group of applicants. Chinese students follow a two-year curriculum at DUFE and apply to transfer to King’s for the third and fourth years of the Economics (Honors) and Administrative and Commercial Studies programs.
- Members of the King’s administration/faculty travel to China each year and conduct a written and oral examination and a personal interview with each student.
- Students whose academic English language skills are deemed adequate submit their academic records and applications for admission to the Registrar’s Office at King’s.
- Currently 24 DUFE students have been successful in the selection process and have been admitted to King’s for the 2007-2008 academic year.
- In the first year of this program (2004/2005), King’s offered admission to 25 DUFE students. All of these students were successful in their visa applications to the Canadian Embassy and all are pursuing their undergraduate degrees at King’s University College at The University of Western Ontario in Canada. In 2005/2006, 22 students were admitted, and successful in their visa applications and are pursuing their undergraduate degrees at King’s. In 2006/2007, 20 students were admitted and successful in their visa applications and are currently pursuing undergraduate degrees at King’s.

Whenever I hear about the loneliness of other international students, I feel so lucky that I am in the 2+2 program. I came here to King's College one year ago, and have never had a feeling of loneliness. Kings is not only a school but also a big family. Friends from all over the world make me see the world clearer and the knowledge I acquire here gives a baptism to my thoughts. It is here I finally found out what I want, and get inspired all the time.
I had a wonderful time at King's. I like the teaching method which helps us put theory into practice, and the small classes gave us more opportunity to participate at class and talk to professors. It is a very nice campus. I was the VP of King’s Chinese Student Association, which gave me the chance to meet a lot of friends join in many activities. Our group of international student coordinators helped students from DUFE adapt quickly to life Canada, and helped them solve any problems about study or living. King’s gave me the opportunity to develop my communication and teamwork skills – The two-year experience at King’s was really memorable.
The "2+2" program at King's was a wonderful experience, and entering this program was one of the most important and the best decisions that I have ever made. The program was well and thoughtfully designed, thus it made my transition from China to Canada quite smooth.
My life at King’s is the most memorable experience to me. I learned a lot which I cannot acquire anywhere in China and I made friends with many nice Canadian people. I am thankful to the DUFE program because it gave me a very good opportunity to study abroad with a relatively low security deposit when applying for the visa, which is the most crucial requirement for students who want to study overseas. The people who work in the DUFE program are very nice and helpful. They arranged and offered a lot of activities for Chinese students to get to know the local Western culture. My friends and I all found those experience were remarkable for us.
It has been four great years studying and living at DUFE and King's College. This is the most awesome program ever. All the professors and agents in King's are so kind to us. And we made friends with many of them. I gained a lot of rare experience here and it's unforgettable. I'm sure other DUFE students would think so. I truly hope this program will be better and better as well as the friendship between all of us.
