King's welcomes counsellors and principals from far and wide

On Thursday, December 8, 2011, King’s welcomed counsellors and principals from schools far and wide to a special event. Over 100 counsellors (from locations including Niagara, Windsor, Chatham, St. Thomas, Sarnia, Petrolia, Forest, Clinton, Stratford) were on campus to partake in a special presentation by Dr. Eunice Gorman (School of Social Work). The presentation, Surrounded by Death, Trying to Live:  Adolescents and Social Media, explored the influences of popular culture and social media on young people struggling to find their own identity and grow while being inundated with images of dying, death, vampires, ghosts and other paranormal symbols.

“We so enjoy hosting this annual event," notes King's Registrar Marilyn Mason. "It is a small way to say thank you to our colleagues. Dr. Gorman’s talk touched all of us who care about students and time for conversation and holiday cheer is really important!"
